Description: A brand new roguelike game Dome Keeper envisions Terraria meets Aliens in a tower defense game that combines underground mining escapades with turret blasting, a style that is reminiscent of the arcade classic Missile Command. Dome Keeper has just released an online demo on Steam ahead of the Steam Next Fest 2022 event. You can download it now and dig into the ground to find the resources you require to defend your dome against the evil creatures about to descend upon you. Dome Keeper places the player in a dome on the surface of a frightful hostile planet. Every time you play, you have to descend into the depths below, digging out a path in search of precious materials used for upgrades. The terrain is divided up into square blocks that will be familiar to players who have played crafting games for years, and mining is as simple as bumping into them enough times to break them. Mining becomes more difficult and slower the further you go. It is recommended to upgrade your equipment before going too far. As with the likes of Minecraft and Terraria, resources are often tightly packed together and if you notice a glimmer along your tunnel, digging deeper will usually reveal more valuable materials ready to be gathered. Once extracted, resources have to be manually moved into your dome for storage and use. To do this, press an option to tether the resources. However the more you drag behind yourself the more slowly you'll move. Eventually, you'll become immobile until you drop some chunks on the ground. When your resources are at base you can feed them into upgrades for your jetpack and drill that will enable quicker mining and traversal and the ability to carry more resources at a time with less impact on your manoeuvrability. You can also upgrade your dome to defend your base from the hordes of monsters from another dimension. Tower defense is managed by a large laser that can be turned around your dome in any direction to target any direction. You can hear the incoming threats and direct attacks at your dome from down in the tunnels, so you'll know when it's time for you to hurry back and clean your house. Upgrades to your dome display useful information like the time until the next attack and the current health of your dome. Dome Keeper currently offers two difficulty levels: the default 'brutal" setting, and a slightly more daunting 'hard but manageable' option. It's quite punishing at first and the banging sound coming from the surface can cause you to panic. You can play the demo on Steam. We'll keep you informed and up to current on any notable forthcoming PC games that are scheduled for Steam Next Fest. In other crafty news one player's Lego Terraria build is tackling bosses and underground mining scenes. We've also got all the information regarding the Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update as well as the possibility of a Minecraft RTS game from the developers of Minecraft Dungeons.
